The committee discussed and forwarded recommendations to Dr. Murano for her approval and amendments.  The tentative proposal is summarized, amended by subsequent discussion, and calls for the following:

1. That the name of this event be Commencement Convocation

2. That the ceremony begin at 5 PM on the Thursday immediately prior to commencement

A special meeting was called by President Murano to discuss the fall commencement ceremonies.  At the most recent graduations in August 08, graduates receiving their actual diploma at the door as they exited the building worked well.  

 It has been suggested that a separate event is planned to focus on only one prestigious keynote speaker on an evening scheduled near the commencement ceremonies.  This will be better in terms of scheduling speakers and shortening the length of the ceremony itself.
